I performed preventative maintenance on air handler units and HVAC related systems. This also allowed me to identify and come up with creative solutions to inefficient systems. One example was locating the source of water leaks in our cooling towers. I proposed a new design to prevent future leaking and successfully stopped the leaks with the improved part. This saved money by reducing the water lost in the system as well as lowering the amount of biocide needed for water treatment.

Chemical engineering co-op for the 2015 spring semester and summer. I worked in a chemical process plant setting with large batch reactors, distillation columns, and other vessels. I participated in various process improvement projects. I mainly worked on a storage tank vent line system. This system would replace a carbon adsorption system and send vapors to a thermal oxidizer. The project had a stage gate implementation system and involved integrating a pressure control system to minimize the amount of vapors going to the thermal oxidizer to reduce its overall load. This project had me managing contractors on beginning construction as well as getting cost estimation quotes. Additionally, I came up with project cost estimations and return on investment to prove its feasibility. All the design work and justifications were reviewed by the plant manager and relevant operators to ensure a successful project.I worked to implement new chemical processes in the plant. This involved working with customers, engineers, lab personnel, and operators to find the most efficient way to produce the product while still meeting all the customers specifications. Implementing a new process involved calculating mass and energy balances, determining appropriate PPE requirements, determining air and environmental regulations, and writing operator SOP's.Additionally, I presented technical project information to the company's CEO and executive board.
