Dr. Draper's broad understanding of issues facing the nonprofit sector comes from 30 years of experience performing diverse roles in nonprofit leadership and service: as grantmaker, board member, executive director and program manager, consultant, scholar, and active member of local and national associations. Dr. Draper holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Draper is involved in all Draper Consulting Group consulting projects and provides project design, strategic thinking, and depth of expertise. The firm’s methodology is rooted in anthropological theory and honors each organization’s unique values, culture, and constituency. Since 1990, she has helped more than 200 nonprofits move to the next level of organizational vitality, effectiveness, and sustainability. Prior to establishing Draper Consulting Group, Dr. Draper held management positions at three major California foundations. At The Ahmanson Foundation, she served as program officer for health, human services, education, and the arts. At the W. M. Keck Foundation, Dr. Draper was responsible for national grantmaking programs in medical research, medical education, and liberal arts. She then served as program director at the California Community Foundation, overseeing the foundation's overall funding program as well as directing arts and health grantmaking. In addition, Dr. Draper has seven years of nonprofit management experience as a museum director, curator, and educator. She taught in the graduate Museum Studies Program at J.F. Kennedy University. Dr. Draper actively participates in the Council on Foundations as a conference panelist and facilitator.
