Monitors and evaluates vital signs, is knowledgeable about pain medications and proficient in administering them as well as in helping patients recover from anesthesia, knows how to care for a patient with postoperative nausea and vomiting, is able to think critically and quickly, knoweldgable of use patient-controlled analgesia pumps and I.V. or epidural infusions, as well as how to monitor invasive tools such as arterial lines and central venous lines. Provides discharge education and instrucation to patients and families.
