I help the business to understand the problems that it needs to address and then work with the internal development team and business stakeholders to find the appropriate solution to the problem.
Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
I created this website with a clear objective:To encourage Business Analysts to share their stories and insights, so that we can learn from each other and develop together as a professional community.I feature regular interviews with Business Analysts from all industry sectors who talk about their journey to becoming a BA, the challenges they faced along the way and give great advice both to those new to the industry and those more experienced.
Castle Donington, England, United Kingdom
I am continuing to use my experience as a BA, and my knowledge of the organisation, to deliver change & transformation projects. However, this new role has a focus specifically on the use of the Blue Prism software to deliver Robotic Process Automation (RPA) into the business. I manage the back log of ideas for process automation, help the business to triage them and establish which ones should be given priority based on their potential cost saving and level of business benefit.
Castle Donington
- Pioneered the Business Analysis practice. I was the first BA ever appointed in the business and I managed to build belief in the job role amongst Exec Management and Business Stakelholders. This led to the BA team being increased substantially. - Spearheaded the Business Analysis on major change projects within the business including working with a number of high profile clients and our sister company in the USA. Moved into a role as the primary BA for the Dimensions brand focussing on Process Improvement and Product Diversification. - Implemented both Salesforce and Dynamics CE to a user base of circa 50 sales and account management staff.
Newark, Nottinghamshire
- Led the Analysis practice during a rapid period of change including work on business acquisition, business process improvement and system enhancement. - Managed multiple stakeholders in a particularly challenging environment ensuring that support was brokered from all areas of the business.- Implemented a structured analysis and delivery process that made the best of both the waterfall methodology and agile development practices to ensure that solutions were well scoped out and fit for purpose while being able to deliver with relative pace. - Led the analysis and business readiness phases on projects designed to implement and improve both Salesforce and Service Now.
Derby
- Helped to form the new Business Change team and introduced the supporting process to ensure that there would be a focus on ongoing process and system improvements.- I acted as the Relationship Manager working on improvements for the Derbyshire’s online savings platform. The products on this system consistently topped the best buy tables and brought in circa £1.5 Billion in revenue to the society. - I played an important role in a number of intensive business integration projects that aimed to move head office support activities from the Derbyshire to the Nationwide Building Society for which I was formally recognized for my contribution to the success of the project.- I helped to shape best practice within the change team and took on the ownership of the requirement gathering process where I implemented a number of initiatives such as document quality control and standard requirement elicitation techniques.
Nottingham
- Acted as lead Business Analyst on a portfolio of projects (overall budget of 620k in 2009) and project managed a portfolio of client deliveries through the full project life cycle (with a combined budget of 164k in 2009) - Created requirement catalogues and functional specifications on key customer facing projects as well as quality reviewing of project documents and technical specifications.- In December 2009 the Account Management team recognized my work during the year and nominated me for a “REACH” award. This award recognized people who excel at the company standards of working together, doing things right, driving for results and making great decisions. - I was appointed to a high profile project for major credit card supplier in 2008 which at the time was running over budget and had a number of ongoing unresolved issues that were threatening delivery. I identified a weakness around issue management which prompted me to pro-actively set up weekly issues meetings and an issue log to ensure each issue had an owners and target completion date. I received positive feedback from the project team who commented that I had “turned the project around”. I also led the UAT activity working closely with the Client which helped to improve the solution to the point where it could be launched.

- Worked as a Business Analyst within one of the fastest growing Logistics companies in the UK and helped to establish the standard way of working.- Created requirement catalogues and functional specifications on key customer facing projects for clients such as Bosch, Jaguar and JCB and in most cases acted as the Project Manager through the full project life cycle. - Performed functional testing prior to facilitating the UAT of the developed solution ensuring that what was delivered matched what was specified and met quality expectations. - Managed a variety of stakeholders ranging from the MD to the forklift truck and Lorry Drivers requiring me to tailor my communication methods accordingly.
