I still work about 60 hours per month for them, but my position at Legacy is my full-time job now. As an emergency physician with Concord Medical Group, I work 12 -24 hour shifts in a variety of ER settings including rural medicine. Critical medicine is both rewarding and challenging. With the variety, breadth, and depth of skills required in emergency medicine, I am continuously sharpening my knowledge of pediatrics, lacerations, compound fractures, burns, and critical care.

When I began volunteering at this free clinic in Spring 2013, it was disorganized, inefficient, and did not have much documentation on the doctors and midlevels treating the patients. I work closely with Charles Pierce, the Staff Director. Together we have implemented numerous changes including the medical exam form, patient education posters, and made sure all treating providers have valid Texas Medical License. We are still in the process of finalizing the clinics 403c status with the IRS and FTCA status with Health and Human Services. I enjoy giving back to the community about 2 Wednesday evenings each month; it is very rewarding to help these uninsured patients who desperately need medical care. I decided to step down as director, but I still volunteer once a month.
