As Head Creative, in the design studio of Saga Holidays, I work with the Creative Director to conceptualise and oversee all creative output across all channels.Managing and mentoring a large team of creatives including artworkers, designers, writers and photographers this position is challenging and rewarding as we strive to produce work which disrupts and breaks down the preconceived ideas about Saga and it’s customers.Current high profile projects include the redevelopment of the Saga website, a new Saga partnership with Tate Britain and a national Saga brand campaign.In just three months I have had great success in changing attitudes in the marketing department which is very print, brochure and DM driven. I have helped focus them on more selective, tactical marketing with more of an emphasis on digital as well as print. Helping cut costs, mail less but having greater impact on the the customer and sales. Helping them to understand what is ‘brand’ and what is ‘inform and sell’.Recent photography and video shoots under my art direction have boosted content and assisted Saga move into the world of tablet apps, micro sites and better web engagement.

At KCC, one of the largest councils in England I work closely with the Director of Communications and heads of departments to lead a variety of challenging design projects online, offline and across all channels for KCC communications department.The most exciting part of my role is trying to change the older pre-conceptions of a ‘council’ as seen from the public eye and modernising the dated approach of a council internally.The communications department is a design agency environment; campaign driven, dealing with major third party agencies daily and I understand how they think and operate. Recruiting agencies to assist in major projects and overseeing the pitch process to final presentation is often challenging but insightful.Main projects are both reputational for KCC and service driven for the public via print, web and video. I am pro-actively involved from initial concept to output through any medium it may be.Design/brandingImplementation of a completely new KCC brand. With the director and campaigns team I co-led the design process from imagery, graphic design and video through to tone of voice with the press team. WebI was the lead creative with possibly our biggest challenge so far, the redevelopment of KCC website kent.gov.ukOne of the council’s main priorities is channel shift and becoming digital by default. So this is a mammoth ongoing task. The website has thousands of pages with an epic amount of content. VersatilityMy skills in photography, copywriting, graphic design, web design, user interface and user experience all need to come together to give our customers the ‘simplest’ experience. CampaignsOn a day to day basis my projects are extremely varied. Campaigns such as Fostering and Adoption, Social Work Recruitment have been rewarding.
