About Lee Hubble
Dr Lee Hubble is the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at VitalTrace, a medical device company aiming to improve outcomes for mothers and children during childbirth labour and delivery through the precision monitoring of fetal complications. Additionally, he holds current appointments as a Visiting Adjunct Researcher at Curtin University in Perth, and a Faculty Affiliate in the Department of NanoEngineering at the University of California, San Diego.He received both his PhD in Chemistry and his Master of Forensic Science from The University of Western Australia in 2009, and his BSc in Forensic Science from Curtin University in 2005. He joined CSIRO in 2009, where he was involved in various strategic and commercial projects based around fundamental sensor development and sensor applications, for areas ranging from environmental monitoring to healthcare devices. In 2020, he translated into the MedTech industry where he was the first employee and held a Senior Scientist position at Biotome, a startup company focused on the development of precision immunology biosensors for disease diagnostics.His research interests include using hybrid nanomaterials for sensing applications, supramolecular chemistry and carbon nanomaterials, high-throughput sensor fabrication and testing, developing point-of-care diagnostics, electrochemical biosensors, and wearable chemical sensors. In addition, Lee has held multiple Visiting Scholar positions at The University of California, San Diego developing cutting-edge wearable chemical sensor technologies for security, forensic, and healthcare applications. Lee's scientific research efforts have been recognised by numerous awards including being the recipient of CSIRO's 2015 John Philip Award for the Promotion of Excellence in Young Scientists, and the 2017 CSIRO Research+ Julius Career Award.
