    For over 16 years I have been Scottish Rowing’s performance lead, initially as a volunteer, and since 2017 as a staff member. I have led the performance operation during an unprecedented period of change which has resulted in a series of best-ever performances by Scottish rowers on the world stage. Since June 2023, I have taken on additional responsibilities leading the Pathway Development team and helping to attract and retain participants into rowing.My role during the period has included:• Creating and implementing a long-term performance strategy for Scottish Rowing which aims to support the vision of ‘Rowers, developed in Scotland, competing for Great Britain at the Olympics and Paralympics’.• Leading, supporting, challenging, and mentoring the Scottish Rowing performance and pathways staff team (n~7).• Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including sportscotland, British Rowing and multiple university partners to secure investment and support for rowing programme activity across Scotland.• Developing a range of new athlete and coach development initiatives to promote better engagement with the sport.• Financial management including budget oversight, allocation of programme funding and securing value for money.• Lead Anti-Doping officer responsible for successfully implementing the UKAD Assurance Framework.• Representing Scottish Rowing on various external forums including the Home International Rowing (HIR) Management Committee, the British Rowing Events Committee and the SSA UK Honours Panel.• Contributing to various projects across the organisation as a member of the Senior Management Team.• Attending and contributing to Scottish Rowing Board meetings.

    In October 2014, I was seconded for 6 months by the Board of Directors to head up the performance department on an interim basis. During this period, I was tasked with undertaking a comprehensive review of Tennis Scotland’s investment in all performance activities. The key findings and recommendations from my report were approved by the Board, the LTA and sportscotland, and these shaped a new performance strategy and direction for the organisation. Subsequently, through an open recruitment process I was appointed to lead the department on a full-time basis.My role during this period included:• Providing leadership and strategic direction to the Tennis Scotland player development programme, and overseeing the day-to-day performance operations to ensure that more Scottish players achieved their potential on the performance pathway.• Reporting to the Chief Executive and working as part of the Senior Management Team, contributing to key strategic projects across the organisation including a review of the competition framework.• Providing day-to-day line management to the performance team, including staff, self-employed coaches and multi-disciplinary support service staff.• Managing all Tennis Scotland investment in performance activities (c.£500k); responsible for securing partner funding as well as setting, monitoring and reviewing budgets to ensure a strong organisational return on investment.• Managing Tennis Scotland’s performance relationships with key partners including the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), sportscotland, the sportscotland institute of sport, Winning Students and Commonwealth Games Scotland.
