After the purchase of former employer (Savacor), I was retained by St. Jude’s Implantable Electronic Systems Division to integrate Savacor’s entire operations. Initially, I relocated manufacturing, ramped up production to meet demands of upcoming trials, incorporated all documentation, and trained engineers on technology. Then, I progressed to increasingly responsible engineering roles to currently drive our heart failure management device through pivotal clinical trials. Currently, I lead 3 teams of highly motivated engineers/technicians engaged in design/development, manufacturing, and field support activities. Currently I’m helping to develop a health monitoring system to detect defects in solid fuel and prevent rocket motors’ malfunction and subsequent explosion. I adapted electronics to measure pressures inside the rocket motor and devised a method to calibrate rocket motor sensor in the field automatically.

In this role, I was directly accountable for product design, test automation, manufacturing assembly, and field support and troubleshooting of a medical device for a medical device manufacturing startup company. I designed electrical and mechanical components for the wireless implantable heart failure therapy system as well as developed hardware and software for automated testing and product calibration. Success included: Transforming the prototype into mass production in house on a shoestring budget as well as developing automated tools and highly effective methods to manufacture, test, and calibrate devices.

At the lab, I gained extensive knowledge in micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) manufacturing techniques. During this time, I developed automated plating process to smoothen gold electroplating for neural probes for Parkinson’s disease research. Additionally, I wrote algorithms to filter noise in electronic nose systems caused by air-conditioning systems and co-authored research paper.
