Of all the hats I wear, the most rewarding is that of speech coach and developer of the Lovett Method: teaching people who stutter how to overcome what is for many a barrier to a full and rewarding life. The creation of the Lovett Method has been a lifelong process as I developed and learned ways to help me conquer my own stutter. Since then, I’ve written multiple books on the topic (including my most recent, How to Stop Stuttering & Love Speaking) and personally coached more than 6,000 sessions for people who stutter (PWS), helping them work their way towards becoming people who stopped stuttering (PWSS). The Lovett Method forms the foundation of the World Stop Stuttering Association (WSSA), the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization I created in 2021 to share my stop-stuttering mission with the world. Through WSSA, our team of coaches (all PWSS) help our students from around the globe train their minds to stop stuttering, learn to love public speaking and help improve their lives, relationships and careers.In my work life, I was also in the business of communication. While my formal training was as an attorney, much of my career has been as an entrepreneur, incubating and growing startups and subsequently selling them off to public companies. I’m among several co-founders of more than 100 primarily telecommunications businesses, including radio stations, cable TV companies and cellular telephone systems. My additional published works include Stuttering & Anxiety Self-Cures, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Editions (2016, 2017, 2019); Happiness in Seven Steps; The Watergate Rhymes; Stuttering & Anxiety Self Cures (3rd Edition 2019 now available in English, French, Chinese and Hindi); WORDS You Need to Know; published in 2014, 2015 and 2016, respectively.
