I joined AESA for a short period to bolster their internal technical skills within South Africa. I was responsible for solar resource assessments, yield estimation, PV system designs, technical project management, internal due diligence, tender formulation and evaluation, site identification and inspection and related tasks. Avelar Energy is developing and investing in solar projects of all scales inside formal bidding frameworks as well as private markets with aim of becoming a Solar IPP Utility company.

I was responsible for engineering work on local projects in Southern Africa and supported European offices. I performed technical due diligence tasks such as site visits, bankable technical due diligence for wind and PV projects. I increasingly became involved in feasibility tasks and support in developing projects.

I conducted feasibility and site work for a wind farm project in Lesotho. I also performed feasibility work on a solar farm in southern Namibia. I was responsible for engineering calculations including resource assessments, site layouts and meteorological equipment procurement.

The Wits Aeronautical Society aims to encourage enthusiasm for aviation throughout the University of the Witwatersrand.The society also aims to bridge gaps between students and the South African aerospace industry, create a network with other student aeronautical societies and affiliate with the Aeronautical Society of South Africa (AeSSA )and the Royal Aeronautical Society.The Society attended many AeSSA events in 2008 and succeeded in its mission to expose students to the aeronautical industry in South Africa.

I worked as a Design Engineer for the Paperdigm Light Sport Aircraft design team. My work here included structual design of semi-monocoque wings, thermodyanmic heat flow analyses, 3d CAD modelling and general engineering work.

I worked for Sean Cronin, owner of Glutek Engineering, during my 2nd year study vacations as required for a BSc(Eng). My work included general workshop labour, CNC programming, CAD drawing and general CAM related work. I remain in contact with Sean and regard him as a mentor.
