In 2014, the McMinnville City Council started laying the groundwork to establish McMinnville as a world-class tourism destination. Council members created a funding source and a leadership panel to design a plan promoting tourism as a primary pillar of the city’s long-term economic development strategy.After nearly two years of research and collaboration from the panel, the City Council approved the formation of Visit McMinnville. The organization is a full-service marketing group dedicated to enhancing McMinnville’s economy through the promotion of tourism. Visit McMinnville creates marketing projects, programs, and service plans to achieve economic growth and prosperity for all city residents.

For 50 years, the Durant family has grown wine grapes, acting as stewards of the land on the hill they call home. Since then the vision has grown to include Durant Vineyards Winery & Tasting Room, award-winning Durant Olive Mill extra virgin olive oil, Durant Kitchen, Durant Body & Spa, Red Ridge Farms specialty plant nursery, gift shop, overnight lodging, event spaces, expansive gardens, and the Durant Nature Trail.Durant's history here in the Willamette Valley, now spanning 5 generations, began with English walnuts, hazelnuts, Italian prunes, and cherries. In 1973 Ken and Penny Durant were among the first in Oregon to attempt growing wine grapes in the Dundee Hills. Great wine is not just created in the cellar, it is nurtured and shaped by the land. Durant Vineyards wines embody the true nature of each vintage, the unique terroir of the Dundee Hills, and the family’s/brand's meticulous farming methods. In honor of the trailblazing spirit, they planted olives in 2004, establishing one of the few olive orchards in Oregon. With the first, and to date only, commercial olive mill in Oregon, we are able to handcraft signature Durant Olive Mill olive oils with their own distinctive Pacific Northwest aromas and flavors. While honoring the old-world tradition of olive oil production, we believe in the potential for creating unique, world-class olive oils right here in Oregon.
