Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division overseeing all criminal investigations. The division consists of five teams to address property crimes, violent crimes, white collar/fraud, special victims, and juvenile. We also include polygraph, arson and crime analysis. We strive daily to work with the Patrol division to proactively deter crimes and immediately respond to victims of crimes to assist them through their ordeal. We work with victims through the entire criminal justice process to help bring them justice, peace and closure.

In my capacity as the grant writer for the agency I am responsible for researching searching for funding sources to aid in the betterment of the agency; developing new projects and evaluation criteria for new project assessments; drafting and preparing grant proposals; performing evaluations and progress reports for awards; coordinating procurement and bidding post-award; vetting vendors and technology for award purchases. Since taking this role I have been responsible for awards totaling almost $4 million for our agency. Some of the more notable projects I have been successfully awarded were the establishment of the Third Circuit Drug Analysis Laboratory and subsequent expansions to offer additional forensic services to multiple jurisdictions; obtaining funds for and helping to implement an agency-wide records management and mobile reporting software project; designing a supplemental personnel program to employ off duty deputies to target high crime areas; and the successful procurement of a $1 million award for a visual intelligence solution to supplement GIS and public safety efforts in all fifteen counties of the 6th US Congressional District.As for the division I supervise it is comprised of my duties, recruiting, IT, the sex offender registry, and the agency's civilian personnel. As a commander I am also on rotation for taking after-hours call to act on the sheriff's behalf for critical incidents. I am also responsible for the agency's risk management and the worker compensation liaison to Sumter County Government.In addition to my normal duties I have been tasked the past nine years with administering a 501c3, the Charlie Kubala Memorial Trust which benefits families of fallen law enforcement officers and offers scholarships to local high school students and lower ranking officers, on behalf of the agency and am responsible for coordinating all of the annual fundraising efforts. I have also been appointed to the board of trustees (April, 2015).
