Together with my colleague Prof. Katrien De Cocker, I lead the MOVES (MotiVation in Education and Sports) research group within the Department of Movement and Sports Sciences at Ghent University. Our mission is to conduct sports pedagogical research that enables children, youth and adults to develop, learn and perform in a safe and motivating (exercise) context. By conducting high quality, internationally recognized and innovative scientific research in the contexts of Physical Education, Youth Sport and Top-Level Sport, we develop evidence-based training programs that optimize the motivational style of students, teachers, (top-) sport coaches, executives and health staff.As the coordinator of the educational master in Physical Education and the educational master Health Sciences, and the Honours Program Education, I make a substantial contribution to the educational quality care within these programs.Samen met mijn collega Prof. Katrien De Cocker, leid ik de MOVES (MotiVation in Education and Sports)-onderzoeksgroep binnen de vakgroep Bewegings- en Sportwetenschappen aan de Universiteit Gent. Onderzoek doen dat het mogelijk maakt voor kinderen, jongeren en volwassenen om in een veilige en motiverende (beweeg-)context te ontwikkelen, te leren en te presteren is onze missie. Via hoogstaand, internationaal erkend en innovatief wetenschappelijk onderzoek in de contexten van Lichamelijke Opvoeding, Jeugdsport en Topsport ontwikkelen we een evidence-based opleidingsaanbod gericht op het optimaliseren van de motiverende stijl van studenten, leraren (lichamelijke opvoeding), (top-)sport coaches, leidinggevenden en gezondheidsmedewerkers . Als coördinator van de educatieve master Lichamelijke Opvoeding en de educatieve master Gezondheidswetenschappen, en het honours program education lever ik een substantiële bijdrage aan de onderwijskwaliteitszorg binnen deze opleidingen.
