Flight Attendant. A role that evokes images of glamour and traveling the world with a Louis Vuitton suitcase and lazing by pools in tropical climes. The reality is something completely different that involves a lot of hard work, dedication and flexibility and the ability and confidence to converse with movie stars and heads of state as well as people on their first flight grappling with crying babies and a food fight. Providing excellent customer service is only a small part of this role, being an expert in food and wine matches, stimulating conversation and adapting to any unexpected situation that is thrown at you is another thing altogether. Add an inflight safety and emergency expert and you've got yourself a Jill-of-all-trades-master-of-everything!

It was an honour to be selected to work in the high profile "Qantas Promotional Team". We travelled around the country and around the world to work at Qantas sponsored events in a promotional and public relations capacity. Some events that I was fortunate enough to work at include the Australian Formula One Grand Prix and the 2005 Airbus A380 flyover in Sydney entertaining politicians and dignitaries for Qantas 85th Anniversary.

I traveled to Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals in this role and attended many movie events promoting our films to the international film community.

Worked as an inflight cabin manager as well as a Cabin Supervisor overseeing training and testing of flight attendants. This position was based in New York and I was especially chosen for this role due to my excellent work performance and record during my time with Alitalia.

I found this front desk position highly stimulating and the ability to achieve extras with add ons and upgrades highly challenging. I also formed a social club and organised a weekly newsletter and social functions.

Inflight service and safety. Employed as a Cabin Manager on the transatlantic routes Based in Italy. Inflight training of our inexperienced cabin crew was required as well as selling duty free, managing the crew, monies received and overseeing the service in our “Magnifica” cabin. This position was based in Rome and required travel between Europe, North America, Middle East and Africa. Ongoing inflight training to our inexperienced crew was part of my role. The most important attribute I brought to this role was to keep my sense of humour during some very high stress situations!
