I've been working with not-for-profit organisations in Canada, New Zealand, Madagascar, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka and Ecuador (Galapagos Islands) since 1996. I have had the pleasure of working in three different NGO networks in the UK and New Zealand, as well as undertaking field work in Madagascar and Sri Lanka.I have a particular interest in creating spaces for the sharing of ideas. Translated into an organizational setting, this interest can take many forms depending on the needs of the client, such as drafting policies and job profiles, creating dialogue venues outside of the office, hosting information swaps and collaborative learning events.I am a skilled facilitator and have worked with a variety of government Ministries and not-for-profit organizations focused on both the domestic service delivery and international development arenas. My consulting through Development Action and Doing Good For Nothing has focused on not-for-profits and social enterprise organizations, including various medical support agencies on Vancouver Island. Between 2015 and 2021, I was an online tutor for the UNHCR facilitating two online courses for people working in some of the most active refugee centres around the world: operational data management, and advanced program management. Between 2015 and 2019, I was a co-owner and board member of theDock, a co-working centre for social impact which operates as a social enterprise in Victoria BC.Currently, I am an Associate Faculty member at Royal Roads University and am regularly contracted to instruct a variety of courses within the Leadership, Global Leadership, Business and Commerce, and Tourism programs. Many of the courses I teach focus on organizational development, communication, leadership, social enterprise, and design thinking.
