I have been fortunate to spend 14 years at Singtel, a company which helped me grow tremendously. I have so many things to be grateful for - Singtel nurtured and sponsored my Master of Business Administration (MBA), and my supervisor remained as my mentor till this day.My previous job at Singtel required me to service tier 1 financial institutions such as Credit Suisse, Barclays Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Temasek, Bloomberg and the Singapore Stock Exchange. What brought joy to my work was the ability to make a positive impact while forging authentic friendships. This eventually earned many commendations from the clients over the years. During my corporate life, I would spend my annual leave travelling around Asia to volunteer and serve in cataract surgical missions.
In 2014, during a volunteer trip, I witnessed how a cataract surgery changed the life of an elderly patient as well as her young caretaker. That image touched me, and led me to leave my corporate job to embark on a learning journey which would change my life forever. Since then, through my social work, I fundraise and coordinate eye missions for the underprivileged in Asia affected by cataract to receive free eye surgeries ; rebuilt 11 earthquake damaged school and two health centres in Nepal. Having travelled to poverty stricken places where basic healthcare and clean water is a luxury, I learned to appreciate the little things, and it taught me about resilience. While giving, we actually received so much more in return.Equipped with the knowledge to respond to natural disasters, I responded to two earthquakes disasters, one in Nepal, and another in Lombok, which I experienced strong after shocks. My dream is to grow with an organisation that share the same vision to create social impact, with considerations for environmental, social and corporate governance. I strive to steer both individuals and corporations to utilise their resources to transform lives and make this world a better place.
