Performs a wide range of duties relating to the origination of residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals. . Assumes overall responsibility for the residential mortgage loan from application to closing.Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:* Develop referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional and personal contacts).* Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.* Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting and general departmental guidelines.* Follow defined protocol for escalation exceptions.* Collect appropriate documentation from each applicant and deliver loan package in the time frames set by management.* Manage pipeline for all originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.* Communicate with branches and/or applicants of providing timely updates and progress reports.* Maintain high levels of customer service while managing each applicant's and support staff's expectations.* Attend and participate in all Consumer Lending meetings as required by management

Responsible for the oversight and overall production of a loan fulfillment work squad consisting Loan Processors, Processing Assistants, and Underwriters. Overall responsibilities include: Maintaining high customer service levels for the entire team while meeting monthly closing forecasts. Managing daily reports in order to ensure effective work flow for Processors, Processing Assistants, and Underwriters. Assuring files meet proper investor guidelines by monitoring loan processors to ensure they are following proper rules of engagement and partnering with Credit Risk Specialist, CRM Academy Coaches and Quality Control to ensure underwriting compliance. Communicating with internal and external business partners. Handling escalated issues that occur on team and overseeing resolution. Motivating team to remain focused on team goals during times of both high and low volume. Working with external business partners to ensure client expectations are met. Maintain established Service guarantees for closing cycle time, IWR and underwriting turn times. Conduct team meetings to keep team players up to date on Department/Company initiatives and goals. Engage Credit Risk Specialist to participate in meetings to provide updates on changes to credit policy and underwriting guidelines. Improve processes to enhance internal and external client’s experience. Responsible for team player performance management and ensure team players are meeting pre-determined requirements for their progression plan. Work jointly with Credit Risk Specialist to address quality and credit performance issues with Underwriters. Assist in interviewing and hiring new Processors and Processing Assistants that best fit job requirements and MVP’s. Work with CRM on filling staffing needs for Underwriters. Drive recommendations to Managers/Directors for process improvements, system enhancements, personnel changes, etc.

Guides customer through the entire home financing event through to closing. Translates and coordinates event logistics, such as investor loan requirements and scheduled events as they relate to home financing.
