Working as an assistant on the family farm my role includes:- Discuss what needs to be done with the contractors and how we would like the job finished. Whether it is building a new barn or cutting the silage for the winter food. Sometimes this requires problem solving skills which must be quickly resolved so as to not delay the job such as working out what to do when one of the silage panels breaks. - Helping make business decisions such as whether to invest in a 99-acre solar farm and when to purchase machinery - Farming has also helped my negotiating skills. I go along to planning meetings and help promote development on the farm by talking to the locals and discussing what changes we could make so they are happy with the new development.
