Northwoods Natural Resources offers consulting services in GIS applications, traditional forestry management and planning, conservation and ecosystem restoration, and small woodlot maintenance. From 2 acres to 2,000 we help landowners restore, manage, and maximize the enjoyment of their trees, prairies, wildlife and other natural features. Specifically, I consult and aid landowners with improving and managing recreation, preservation or investment use of their natural lands and resources.

From volunteer opportunities to education programming and building partnerships, I built the Urban Forest Project -- a community engagement initiative -- from its launch in 2012 through 2014. To support the project, I raised nearly $500,000 in funding for program activities. In 2014 alone, the program engaged the community for more than 3500 volunteer hours, nearly 30 trained Citizen Foresters, 1200 program participants, 57 events, and planted over 370 trees. Additionally, in 2013 Friends of Grand Rapids Parks Urban Forest Project received the Arbor Day Foundation's Excellence in Urban Forest Leadership award.

Detroit, Mi

At the Greening of Detroit, I managed a variety of tree-planting and maintenance projects that represented over $600,000 in grant dollars. These projects culminated in the planting of 2,789 trees throughout some of the City's most EAB-devastated neighborhoods. I also developed a program, established a system, and collaborated with critical partners to implement and evaluate the use of phytoremediation technologies on 10 acres of contaminated brown-fields. I helped develop capabilities and provided training for Geographic Information Systems and data analysis critical to project success and regularly coordinated a team of 5-10 staff and hundreds of volunteers.

East Lansing, Mi

I oversaw an academic research project determined to identify the qualities and behaviors of family forest owners throughout Michigan. The project analyzed a survey designed to more adequately understand the needs and behavior of non-industrial private forest owners throughout Michigan. For two years, I provided teaching assistance to an undergraduate Forest Economics class. Additionally, I helped coordinate an effort to quantify the amount of potential woody-biomass available for energy production in 2010. Riverton, Wyoming, United States

Under the supervision of an Assistant District Forester, I performed forest inventory of state-owned timberlands and set-up and marked timber sales. Skills included reading maps, delineating forest stands, consideration of harvest operations, using GPS/GIS technologies, and understanding local forest product merchantability.

Mason, Michigan, United States

With the Ingham Conservation District, I developed outreach materials, publications, and presentations to support awareness and management of Emerald Ash Borer infestations. Additional duties included cursory ecological assessments of the Conservation District property and support for the annual District tree sale.
