Manage day to day operations of Getaway's outpost in Moodus, CT offering 45 tiny cabins in almost 90 acres of beautiful woods.

Served in senior management role at the Urban Justice Center (UJC), which provides legal services and advocacy to various groups of marginalized New Yorkers. Responsible for planning and implementation of the Peter Cicchino Youth Project’s (PCYP) work in four program areas: providing free legal services for homeless youth, with a focus on the needs of LGBT-identified youth; advocating for long-term policy change in the systems in which homeless youth struggle to survive; case management and social services; and empowering homeless young people and fellow service providers through community education and provider trainings. Directly responsible for raising and managing annual project budget, and for representing PCYP to the Urban Justice Center, the media, and the public. Manage foundation and government grants, including relationship building in the philanthropic community, grant writing and reporting, and ensuring that deliverables and budget are accurate and in line with PCYP’s mission. Over 5 years, grew project from two to six full-time staff. Managed relationships with other social service providers in New York who support homeless youth. Formed and developed a fundraising advisory board of 20 diverse members who contribute to PCYP’s development and communications work.

Practice focused on complex commercial litigation, regulatory matters, white-collar criminal defense, and a wide range of pro bono work. Represented multi-national corporations in securities litigation. Served as pro bono counsel on civil rights cases working with the ACLU, Lambda Legal, Immigration Equality and other major civil rights and impact litigation organizations.

Represented low-income tenants in housing court and helped resolve their housing-related legal problems.

Represented clients in the Health, Disability, and Planning Clinic who are living with HIV/AIDS and the frail elderly. Prepared estate plans (including wills, trusts, and other instruments). Conducted client intake interviews and guided cases from initial document drafting to completion.

Researched and compiled a report on the legal status of sexual rights (addressing issues of sexual health, access to sexuality education, freedom to choose sexual partners, and freedom from sexual violence) for a World Health Organization publication on sexual health and sexual rights.

Researched solutions to legal questions facing Massachusetts Executive Department and Office of the Governor. Wrote legal memoranda for Governor’s Chief Counsel and Deputy Legal Counsels.

Drafted legislative language for nondiscrimination bills at state and local levels. Prepared advisory memoranda detailing recommended legislative strategy. Analyzed existing laws to aid in drafting new legislation. Crafted talking points and advocacy materials in support of state nondiscrimination laws. Participated in numerous coalition meetings with organizations working for LGBT equality.

Organized Cornell Chapter of national, progressive think-tank. Recruited members, organized speakers, coordinated students and faculty in researching and producing policy-related documents. Directed Center on Inequality. Moved student-written academic work to legislators, academics, and media.
