Leetha Filderman is the President/CEO of the PopTech Institute (www.poptech.org), a global innovation network and consultancy that focuses on collaborative solution development in areas such as public health, education, climate action, social justice, human rights, peace and security. Under her stewardship, PopTech has launched two highly regarded Fellows programs dedicated to identifying and mentoring early career innovators and scientists and an incubator supporting global cross-sector collaborative projects. She curates and facilitates the organization’s exploratory labs, salons, and annual forum, which are supported by philanthropic foundations and Fortune 100 corporations. Leetha has a diverse background in strategic development focused on collaborative models that scale initiatives in challenging settings. In the 1980s and 90s, she contributed to the development of state-of-the-art initiatives that addressed the medical, social, and societal impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, serving as the Administrative Director of the Yale-New Haven Hospital AIDS Program and Research Liaison of the Boston City Hospital AIDS Research Program. Subsequently, she ran a successful consultancy, providing strategic planning and fundraising support to a number of nonprofit organizations. She has advised and served on the boards of numerous organizations and has been a peer reviewer of funding applications for government and non-government entities. She is a Fellow at the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, based in the U.K. Leetha splits her time between Washington, DC, and Maine, where she lives in a small seaside village with her family.
