About Vicky Lee, M.Ed., M.S.
Since I was a child, I've always loved reading about adventures through books, traveling domestically and internationally with my family, and interacting with people from different cultures. Who would have thought that this globally-minded kid turned first-generation college student was able to convert this passion into her career over the years? A native of Asia's World City, I'm a product of global education and experience. I have countless stories about my experiences abroad as a former international student, an avid traveler, and an adventurous expat. Not only did I graduate with all three of my degrees as one of the very few international students in the programs, but I also worked in a Scottish international summer school as one of the few foreign-born staff members. I believe that all these experiences have been my best teacher, and now I'm committed to being a lifelong learner by immersing myself in new experiences. Over the years, I've learned a lot of lessons as an expat miles away from home. The biggest takeaway from my experiences happened to resonate with a quote from Princess Diaries, one of my favorite movies of all time— "Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear." I'm the Associate Director of Career Equity, Access and Global Career Development at Suffolk University's Center for Career Equity, Development and Success, with responsibilities supporting the administration of the Career Center, developing and implementing equity and access initiatives to achieve the goals of the Career Center, managing programs for community-building for international students, faculty, and staff, and overseeing programs and projects related to career development, outreach, equitable career strategy, and job market trends to educate staff and students on best practices and hiring trends. When I’m not working at the Career Center, you’ll find me trying new cooking recipes, watching sports, reading, and planning my next trip.
