The EES Alstom Power division had a workforce of 30,000 in 40 locations on every continent and represented around a quarter of Alstom's total turnover. The division delivered power stations. Role: I had full P&L responsibility for a power station division using every fuel (gas, oil, coal, renewables, biomass) except nuclear. Led several dozen national customer facing centres backed up by support functions in Germany and India. Selected Achievements:• Delivering Alstom an excellent EBITDA performance in a mature sector. • Leading on the delivery of dozens of new build power station projects around the world, each worth potentially more than €1bn, ensuring contractual milestones were met and profitability safeguarded. • Successfully maximising Alstom’s bid to win ratio for these types of projects by leading deep strategic analysis of each prospect removing low possibility tenders and building consortiums to win them.• Establishing thought leadership on the divisional Executive committee for the future of the company’s commercial positioning, analysing competitors’ offerings to more sharply define our own USP. • Pioneering the successful expansion of the company’s production capacity in China and India, creating fabrication, plant machinery and boiler manufacturing capacity.• Expanding Alstom’s and (and my own) network globally as a keynote speaker at several major industry forums meeting business, governmental and other key stakeholder leaders. -
