I lead multiple areas as Nori built one of the world’s first marketplaces for carbon removal:• Product: lead a team of four who built Nori's MRV platform (Measurement, Reporting and Verification) and the marketplace to buy and sell NRTs (Nori Carbon Removal Tonnes)• Supply: worked closely with channel partners like Granular Ag to find, quality, and enroll growers like Trey Hill with Harborview Farms into our market• Quantification: worked closely with the team at COMET-Farm (now part of Indigo Ag) to quantify how much CO2 was removed and sequestered in cropland soil based on changes in farming practices• Verification: found, onboarded, and worked with Nori's first verification partner, Aster Global as we wrote the rules for verification and verified Nori's first projectI also contributed to building the company, hiring, roadmapping, and developing Nori's methodology/protocol for soil carbon.

I founded and lead a project to design, prototype, and test a long term vision for unifying Facebook's over 30 separate ads and business products into one interface.

I lead and managed design for areas across Facebook Messenger including real time communication, SMS, and visual messaging. I built the Seattle design team to 5 designers while also managing 4 designers in California.

I co-authored Google's Product Excellence Principles with Ethan Eismann in 2015. The Product Excellence initiative started with a focus on the gaps between our products. It sought to shine a light on how Google's culture was not encouraging or rewarding building a great Google experience that spanned across products. As the initiative gained momentum, I asked what is Product Excellence? Was it just good integration between products? Surely it is much more. I set out to define Product Excellence and the principles that followed are still used today.

I led a design and research team of 7 people inside the Cerebra, a machine learning group lead by Blaise Agüera y Arcas. We used existing and expected advancements in machine learning to explore and push the vision for Android and the Google Assistant.

I founded and led Android's design studio in Seattle which worked on Material Design and owned design for Android's core set of communication products (Phone/Dialer, Messages, Hangouts, Contacts), the Android setup experience, and Google Fi (of which I was a founding member).

I founded Google Inbox with Keith Coleman and lead design for 4 years while also managing the Gmail Design Team. The project was an amazing exploration of managing information and communication across many products. In 2012, Sundar Pichai asked us to narrow our focus to email. I helped build momentum with the new focus and handed off the design team to Jason Cornwell who saw it through launch in 2014.

I worked my way up the through the ranks in 2007 to become the design lead and manager for Gmail. We launched and redesigned a lot of stuff including priority inbox, themes, contacts, labels, tasks, labs, undo send, video chat, sms integration and much much more. I rebuilt the design team twice from the ground up during the 5 years I ran the team managing designers, researchers, and prototypers.

I was one of three design leads for Project Kennedy, the complete redesign of all of Google's desktop properties in 2011. I worked along side Jon Wiley and Nicholas Jitkoff. We built on work lead by Chris Wiggins.

I lead design for the initial launch of Google Finance which pioneered interactive stock charts while also leading design for Google Accounts, Personal Search History, and several other smaller projects on Google Search.

Web Development & Design Agency. Built over 75 websites and web applications.

I worked up from tech support to my final role, Creative Director which I took off a year of college to do full time. AVRI built software on top of IBM ViaVoice and sold to a variety of customers. Then, in 2000, the company narrowed its focus to doctors and built the EPN (Electronic Physicians Network), a web-based EMR built around getting doctor's medical notes transcribed faster and digitized with a blend of voice recognition and medical transcriptionists. Despite finishing v1 and having paying customers, the company was unable to secure the additional funding it needed when the dot-com bubble burst.
