David is a partner in the international banking and finance practice of Hogan Lovells in London. He is consistently recognised as a leading lawyer by Chambers and Legal 500 in the area of trade and commodity finance. He has extensive experience advising banks and trading companies on trade finance structures across the globe, particularly in emerging markets such as Russia/ CIS, sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.David's practice covers financings on a diverse range of commodities such as oil, steel, zinc, copper, soybeans, tobacco, and cocoa. He also supports the work of various Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) operating in the trade and commodity finance space. David has significant experience and knowledge in relation to supply chain finance techniques and export financing (ECA-backed finance).David's recent experience includes:- advising The Royal Bank of Scotland plc and others in connection with a US$1.5bn limited recourse prepayment facilities for Trafigura Group- advising Société Générale, Geneva as Mandated Lead Arranger in relation to a pre-export finance facility for Trans-Oil Group (Moldova)advising Deutsche Bank, Amsterdam Branch as Co-ordinating Mandated Lead Arranger in relation to a €300m borrowing base facility for VDM Metals Group - advising International Finance Corporation in relation to their Global Trade Liquidity Programme (GTLP) and Critical Commodities Finance Programme (CCFP) initiatives - advising Société Générale as Co-ordinating Mandated Lead Arrangers in relation to a US$400million pre-export financing facility provided to OJSC Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) - advising African Export-Import Bank and FBN Bank (UK) Ltd in connection with facilities for the construction and development of the Cape Sierra Hotel, Freetown, Sierra Leone.
