The primary responsibilities:Performance of audit functions throughout the auditing career as a trainee accountant and up a level of an assistant audit manager.The audits were performed at National Departments and National Public entities.Audit Planning Functions• Review of laws for establishing organizations to obtain the understanding of their mandated functions.• Review of the developed polices for verification for conformity against the broad frameworks of laws and regulations applicable to the respective entities.• Review of the application of the departmental policies in operations and state of compliance with those policies.• Assessing the control environment within which organizations operate to determine level of the audit risk, the materiality framework, audit approach to be adopted and the extent of the audit tests to be performed.• Developing a strategic audit plans for the carrying out of the audit and the audit assignment to inform and agree with the client on the type, extent and costs of the audit.• Identifying components to be audited and formulating and updating audit programmes.Execution of the audits• Performing and coaching the trainees on the execution of the audit programmes and reviewing their work.( All the financial components audited, i.e. personnel costs, Revenue and Income cycle, • Payments of goods and services, Property Plant and Equipment ( Assets), Bank and Cash, etc).Reporting on the audits • Drafting informal queries, management reports on audit findings, and final audit report for inclusion in the annual reports.• Auditing of annual financial statements for approval before inclusion in the annual reports and review of the annual reports.
