Lei Zhang, PhD, is a faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He obtained his PhD in computer applied technology with postdoc training in radiology research. He had one year industry experience in Siemens Corporate Research where he worked as a research intern. His research interests include machine learning, computer vision, and medical image analysis. He currently worked on developing Arterial Spin Labeling MRI denoising and brain MRI motion correction methods using deep learning. During his postdoc training, he developed breast imaging analysis methods using deep learning, transfer learning, and weakly supervised learning. He also developed algorithms for cutting annotation cost using deep learning and active learning. He led a group of graduate students collecting road crack images and developed machine/deep learning methods for road crack detection. During his internship, he proposed a dictionary learning method for object tracking with application to catheter tracking in fluoroscopic images.
