Linux System Administrator and functional Team Lead on a team of 4 supporting 129 Internet facing email servers within the Enterprise corporate IT Operations group. The environment consists 98 inbound servers, 12 outbound servers and a mix mail tracking, spam blocking and development/test systems. The Internet domains supported include sbcglobal.net, prodigy.net, flash.net, wans.net, swbell.net, pacbell.net, nvbell.net, ameritech.net, and snet.net. Our inbound servers process on average 1.5 million messages each in 24 hours. E-Mail data transfer ranges from around 1 Gigabyte to about 11 Gigabyte per hour on various different servers. For December 2010 our mail tracking tool reports we had 24,278,887,022 connections; We blocked 21,505,368,417 of those connections; We sent 5,439,821,594 messages. As the Sr LINUX hands-on SME I function as the “go-to” person for project planning; coordination of various IT resources; capacity planning/sizing; performance monitoring and tuning as well as security related issues.
