I am an Englishman who has been in Germany for 3 decades now. My career has taken me from investment banking to CEO / CFO of a listed company and since 2017 to a clear focus on the role of the Chief Financial Officer.My life is organized with my own 80/20 rule. I set up technical competence teams and the financial structure as a prerequisite to being awarded German exploration licences. RP quickly became the 5th biggest licence holder in Germany with 900,000 acres and the largest licence holder in Southern Germany, positioning it alongside global players such as Exxon, Wintershall and Gaz de France. Being small gave us the opportunity to move faster than the big players in the industry. When oil prices collapsed at the end of 2008 the economics of reopening German oil fields no longer satisfied our ROI requirements. Activa decided to focus on its US activities and we exited the RP joint venture.
