The Colin Braid Stone Workshop was established in 2011 but with a long working history preceding this date when the company was owned and run by Colin Braid. Colin initially trained as a stonemason, then stone letter carver, and for over forty years successfully worked across both disciplines.Today the business is run by his niece, Leigh Bradley who trained as a cathedral banker mason and stone letter carver, working across the same traditional masonry disciplines but bringing some new skills and a greater diversity to the workshop, alongside hosting and delivering training for Heritage Lottery Funded Traditional Skills Apprenticeships.Over the years The Colin Braid Stone Workshop has worked and collaborated with traditional stonemasons, conservators, geologists, historic building consultants, architects, local councils, heritage trusts and artists, enabling the workshop to undertake a broader range of specialised and challenging stone projects.
