My duties include teaching undergraduate level courses, both for non-major and majors. The courses include Introduction to Geology, Introduction to the Earth, Earth History and the Fossil Record, Geostatistics, and Paleontology. My research includes examining diversity of paleocommunities in the Permian of West Texas and trophic levels through nitrogen isotopes.

(1) Co-taught Paleontology (GEOS 308) (lecture and lab); (2) Organized and co-lead the Taphonomy Field Conference (April 2011) with Karl Flessa to Colorado Delta, Baja California, Mexico; (3) Worked on assessing nitrogen isotopes in hard parts of invertebrates and vertebrates; (4) Mentored undergraduate and graduate students.

(1) 2004-2005: Instructed geology majors in laboratory settings in Historical Geology (2) Fall 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009: Instructed geology majors in laboratory settings in Paleontology.

Worked with state geologist at the Indiana Geological Survey on bibliography on Indiana fossils and field guide for publication.

(1) Assisted Chris Maples in preparation, organization, and operation of NSF-Sponsored workshop entitled “Preservation of Scientific Research Cores and Collections”, held January 11 in Bloomington, IN; (2) Assisted Lynn Soreghan, Judy Totman-Parrish, and Chris Maples in operation of NSF-sponsored workshop entitled “Paleoclimate Workshop”, held May 16-17 in Washington, DC.

(1) Participated in small group field excursions to Texas and Puerto Rico; (2) Compiled and formatted bibliography; edited and created figures for research publication; (3) Prepared thin sections and polished rock slabs.
