I learned much about sales and other skills during my time with AIL. I initially experienced immediate success in the position, however the company offers products in a niche that didn't provide enough diversity to allow me to serve my clients insurance needs in every respect. I decided to leave in search of a career that allowed me to use more of my diverse skill-set and passion for holistic consulting services.Duties:- Successfully pass the provincial Life Licensing Qualifying Program - Warm calling provided qualified leads- Getting referrals from clients- Presenting life insurance benefit plans- Completing sales of various products -
Sales RepresentativeCirculation Marketing Inc. Oct 2011 - Nov 2011Greater VancouverThis was my first official sales position. I sold trial newspaper subscriptions for the The Province, The Sun and several other newspapers out of mobile kiosk in the front of Walmart, Superstore and IGA locations. My role was to draw traffic via a free draw to win a $500 gift card to the store I was in that day, then sell a trial subscription. Due to the availability of free online news the newspaper itself was not very highly desired, however the $5 donation to a children's charity chosen by the store from each subscription was a primary motivation for buyers. Based on an analysis of the success and aversions of every passerby I took the initiative to create an alternate poster and "sell sheet" which leveraged the interest in charitable donations to improve the response rate. The campaign I created was immediately twice as effective and was of great interest to the CEO of the organization, however the newspapers decided that they wanted the focus to remain on their newspapers so it was ended.
