I am a university-based teacher educator and educational researcher and evaluator with a Ph.D. in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation (IDD&E), as well as master's degrees in IDD&E and Secondary Education, English. My courses taught have included "Cultivating a Classroom Culture for Learning" (formerly "Classroom Management and Instructional Design for Secondary Teachers"), "Middle/Secondary School English Methods," "Classroom Assessment," a specially adapted version of "Supervision of Student Teaching" (master's-level) for participants in the UL Lafayette Mentor Teacher Training program, and "Research & Best Practices in English/Language Arts Curriculum Leadership" (doctoral-level). I have also served as course instructor and/or University Supervisor for senior undergraduate preservice teachers in the first and second semesters of the year-long teaching residency in middle and secondary schools, Residency I and Residency II. Since 2019, I have been the Program Co-Coordinator, instructional designer, learning management system coordinator, and training manager for the UL Lafayette Mentor Teacher Training Program.My primary research interest is instructional and assessment practices in K-12 education to improve student learning (i.e., formative assessment), particularly their use and teachers’ perceptions of their efficacy in secondary English/language arts. Other interests include: K-12 preservice and inservice teachers’ education and learning, capacity building for authentic professional learning communities, evaluative thinking, and reflective practice; mentoring across all content areas in K-12 teacher education and with instructors in higher education; mixed methods approaches in educational research and evaluation; the role of context in teaching, research, and evaluation; and the nature of exemplary evaluations.
