When I was six (and I have proof of this, thanks to my mother), I got confused and called a juggler a ‘struggler.’ It was something to laugh about, something for her to record in my Log-o-Life. Years later, when I became an adult, I came to appreciate that maybe ‘juggler’ and ‘struggler’ were actually synonymous. As I struggled to raise two teens on my own, I juggled two jobs, volunteer work and my children’s school and activity schedules. And it worked. They grew, I grew, bills got paid on time and life was good. Life became SO good, in fact, that an undeniable urge pestered me to give back in a bigger way. I am once again following that urge, changing directions professionally toward a new career in aid work. Domestic, international, it really doesn’t matter, as long as I can help. I see the big picture. I see the details. I can do this.
