Working with scientists, engineers and government bodies to lead and deliver all aspects of internal and external communication (including media relations, press releases, web news, social media, marketing materials, outreach and stakeholder events) for the NERC marine autonomous and robotic vehicle development and operational fleet (inc. Deep-sea biologist studying the controls on faunal microdistribution and reproductive development in deep-sea chemosynthetic environments in the Antarctic

Forming part of an experienced marine ecological survey team my responsibilities included provision of specialist marine survey comprising of survey management, sample and data analysis, ecological reporting and macrobenthic identification.

Forming a key member of a small project team undertaking scoping and EIA studies in relation to harbour and marina developments, coastal defence work, offshore renewables and the aggregates industry. In this position, I was able to develop a detailed knowledge and experience of marine consulting procedures and the legislative requirements of developments in the marine environment within the UK.

Working within a team specialising in casework on Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and International Sites throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, focusing predominantly on the Coastal and Maritime areas. This post also provided project based support to conservation officers in a variety of work areas including; drafting conservation objectives, assessing condition on SSSIs and providing technical support to ongoing areas of work.

Responsible for assessment and consideration of the likely impact of future development upon regionally, nationally and internationally important habitats, communities and species for the coastal region of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This position encompassed a variety of responsibilities including being the lead officer in marine and coastal issues, undertaking site inspections of proposed developments for potential environmental impacts. Promoting enhancement and suggesting mitigation for any potential loss of BAP (Biodiversity Action Plan) habitats. Communicating and negotiating with coastal planners and developers and also being a representative for the EA working along side local and national government members, The Wildlife Trust, English Nature, academics, port authorities & harbour masters.
