Key Responsibilities: •High standard of technical writing skills critical for the development and updating of standardised operating guides and policies. •Highlighting and implementing areas of training needs. •Ensuring high standards of infection control for the hospital are met. •Overseeing large scale maintenance and refurbishment projects. •Predicting and meeting the daily requirements for a busy hospital. •Liaising and negotiating with external vendors to purchase new equipment, maintenance of current equipment and repair damaged units. •Supporting and oversee patient safety initiatives. •Involvement and implementation of initiatives to improve overall working standards and patient safety requirements. •Direct line management of the sterilising department and clinical service lead. •Complete audits for factors such as adherence to policies, staffing levels, infection control.

Paraguay

After undertaking an internship with the organisation examining butterfly essemblages of the reserve in Laguna Blanca, I was offered a full time position as the assistant curator working closely with the scientific team. The museum works towards conserving the fragile habitats in Paraguay through scientific research, community engagement, and environmental education. Key Responsibilities: •Cataloguing collections of specimens from all taxa. •Preparation of new specimens from all taxa. •Preventative collection management for pinned and spirit collections, using best practice to avoid degradation of specimens to ensure longevity. •Management of museum database. •Engagement with international volunteers/interns and local communities. •Supporting interns with research projects within museum studies. •Field work in a diverse environment documenting the fauna of the Ñeembucú and San Pedro departments of Paraguay. •Research leading to publication. •Engaging with external stakeholders and researchers with requesting queries.

Zoological Society London

This role interacts with members of the public to educate them and help with general customer care enquiries. Spending the majority of time interacting with visitors it is important to have a good level of people management skills and an understanding of the animals on show.

This project monitors the movement and density of the European eel in the Thames. The traps are checked regularly and data collected from the eels entered to a database. Training provided included the biological background on the eels, how to monitor them, collecting the data, imputing the data and health and safety.

Whilst studying for my BSc in zoology I work part time as a locum veterinary nurse for various practices. Working in many different practices requires a level of flexibility and adaptability to carry out daily tasks.

Hertfordshire

Volunteers for the wildlife trust help with reserve management which includes clearing areas, planting trees/plants and maintaining habitats. as well as helping with reserve management I undertook training to survey for water voles and looking for signs along waterways that indicate that voles are present.

South Mymms

This is a busy referral hospital which sees a high case load. On a daily basis I had administration duties, management of the ward area including staff and students, training staff and my nursing roles. I was tasked to maintain several diagnostic suites and ensure that current health and safety protocols were in place and adhered to. Along side my role at the hospital I was chair of the feline welfare committee ensuring that the highest level of feline welfare was demonstrated at the hospital.

Acting Head Nurse which involved doing daily orders, rotas, nurse training and implementingnew protocols and nurse clinics.

I worked at this hospital as a trainee and newly qualified nurse. This is a busy hospital which taughtme about the essential skills needed as a veterinary nurse.
