This included Sandton Magazine, SA Expess' in-flight magazine Indwe, The Property Magazine, Promo Magazine, Pharma Magazine, the NHBRC's Akhani magazine, SAPOA Developer, SAPOA Property Review and others.

I tried my hand as product manager and managing editor for the Practical Vat Loose Leaf and weekly Vat Bulletin. This involved editing and re-purposing copy across the handbook and e-letter, managing a team of writers, launching new products and all aspects of direct marketing including writing new copy and keeping track of statistics.

I oversaw original content for the three industry-specific publications and websites: Media Update: Publicity Update and TotallyMAd. I was also sub-editor in my role at Newsclip Media Monitoring and COUP magazine. I wrote, edited, blogged and interacted in the social media space.

Final check for factual and grammatical errors in each of Newsclip's publications.

This involves writing articles for our three B2B websites based on the media, public relations, marketing and advertising industries, namely Media Update, Publicity Update, and Totally MAd. I also compile a weekly e-zine newsletter for the titles, monthly digital edition, and blog about industry-related news. In the past few months we have begun to record weekly vodcasts of the latest news in these industries. I present the totallyMAd vodcast, which is an overview of the latest happenings in the South African marketing and advertising industry.

I wrote original content for the monthly digital magazine, and did the final check for factual and grammatical errors before each issue went live.

Responsible for running the M&G site and ThoughtLeader blog over weekends. This included sourcing relevant content from news wires, loading original copy filed by M&G writers, editing images in Photoshop, subbing all content according to the Mail & Guardian style guide, moderating comments and promoting new content on social media platforms.

I started out at Caxton Newspapers in the newspaper production division, as proofreader of adverts compiled in-house by the graphics team.As features journalist, I contacted clients and wrote short snippets on their products and services, to accompany their ad space in the newspapers. I also researched and sourced topical information.Being health editor involved communicating with relevant PR officers, sourcing press releases on new health products and services and attending health-related events. I also edited the Health Matters supplement and Courses and Studies guide, and put together information on upcoming events for Leisure Options and the Northern Johannesburg Get It magazines.I taught myself layout skills along the way, and gained a wealth of experience from everyone involved in putting together Caxton's regular supplements.
