I am a lover of art, travel, yoga, sailing, and a dumpling folding professional. I am also a swammer (past tense; I swam competitively from childhood through college). Since ‘retiring’ from competitive swimming, I have taken up learning to ride horses, English hunter/jumper style. Through my horse riding lessons, I have discovered many keys to success that that I have found to be true in both horse riding and my professional life. The biggest of these are: trust is key, connection is essential, and communication is critical. I will spare you the expected ‘If you fall off, get back in the saddle’, but I will add one other key to success I have learned is that while you are executing on what you are doing where you are in the moment, it is imperative to also be looking, thinking, and planning ten steps ahead. I strive each day to be a leader that listens, colleague that collaborates, team mate that is thoughtful, and professional that brings positivity.
