During my time in the role I led the IT organisation through the traumatic events of September 11, ensuring continuity of services to all our operations and most notably those located in New York and New Jersey.

It Manager International OperationsP&O Ports Jan 1996 - Nov 1999I joined P&O in 1996, as the International IT Manager. In this multi-faceted role, I was responsible for both the coordination of globally diverse federated IT resources, and for the establishment of new IT departments as the company developed or acquired marine container terminals around the world during a period of dynamic company growth. In effect I became the IT Manager of one subsidiary after another; undertaking the design, planning and implementation of IT infrastructure and support services, while facilitating communications and strategic IT leadership for existing businesses. The highlights of this role included successful delivery of multi-million dollar ERP projects on five continents; recruiting and developing the local IT departments; and developing global standards and processes for ongoing deployment projects.

Data ManagerUnited Nations May 1994 - Nov 1995In mid-1994 I was engaged by the UN as the Data Manager for the United Nations Protection Force in the Former Yugoslavia. I led a multi-national team that built and operated the administrative IT network throughout the mission area. Among the highlights of my work for the UN were successfully deploying a sophisticated PC network throughout the theatre of operations, growing the network from 200 to 1200 end users, and greatly increasing the utility of the mission network, bringing messaging and administrative application access across the theatre of operations.
