Responsible for leading the Department of Commerce’s Business Services Division. This group includes the Business Development, Export/Trade, Marketing and Operations teams. The division is responsible for marketing the state of Washington and engaging companies (US and International) that are thinking about locating or expanding in the state. The team develops the marketing messages and communications material that position the state with this audience (see www.choosewashington.com). They provide export assistance to Washington companies and supports the Governor’s trade missions abroad. In short, this group is on the front lines of growing and improving jobs in the state.

ADI is a start-up organization in the Seattle area that has developed a solution to storing solar energy using a high-temperature chemical thermal reactor. The organization’s purpose is to create breakthrough technology that integrates the most effective and efficient means for solar collection, energy storage and power generation, to transform the energy landscape for renewable energy to be the primary, cost effective worldwide energy source.As Vice President for Business and Operations Strategy, Leigh is responsible for all program, vendor and budget management, business reporting, and contract negotiations. Leigh is an executive business leader who overseas the business operations for the corporation, including commercialization and marketing strategies. She is responsible for grant writing, and securing meetings with top federal and corporate leaders, in helping to accomplish long-term goals.

As a senior business and communications management leader, Leigh was part of Microsoft Research, the Chief Research and Strategy Office, Windows Division and the Information technology group. In these roles she was responsible for planning and managing budgets over $30M, monitoring revenue and expenses, planning and coordinating quarterly and yearly business reviews and planning, management and optimization of group resources. Leigh managed the development of the team's Vision, Mission and messaging, driving the establishment of the overall brand of the group within the Microsoft, including internal and external communications and visual presence. As a senior leader, Leigh drove the cross-organization business strategy and rhythm of the business (ROB) efforts that transformed the business planning activities from reactionary to proactive in driving yearly business results. She was also responsible for driving the PR/AR and Communications team, vision, and strategy overall, managing a team responsible for delivering breakthrough engagements, events, materials, and communications consistent with the company’s vision and mission. In these roles she has managed internal and external communications on behalf of MS with customers, partners, press and analysts. Leigh developed keynotes, presentations, cross-company content alignment and other speaking engagements and developed positioning frameworks to ensure content maps to overall value proposition, and was business manager for the office of the Chief Research and strategy Officer within Microsoft.
