The Communications Advisor supports the Corporate and Community Relations Division in preparing and implementing a range of communication activities to enhance the reputation of Brimbank City Council.The position provides internal consultancy and strategic advice on communications across the organisation.Plays a key role in the promotion of Council projects, events, activities and policies to ensure these services and initiatives are widely understood and acknowledged among a range of stakeholders.The position acts as Council's media liaison; responding to media enquiries, proactively identifying and developing positive media opportunities and managing issues as they emerge.

Provide broad public affairs advice, strategic guidance and community relations expertise to the Australian upstream oil and gas business.Deliverables:• Develop and implement community relations strategies, programs and manage events to enhance community awareness and build reputation in areas where the company operates.• Relationship building with key opinion leaders and influencers including Federal, State and Local government and regulatory agencies.• Identification of community consultation opportunities, provision of forums to engage with stakeholders and ability to manage often sensitive, technical and complex issues.• Development of targeted communications including media releases, holding statements, articles, website, social media.• Manage Esso’s Gippsland Operations community investment program and leverage publicity opportunities.• Crisis management in an issues-rich environment and provide emergency response support for onshore and offshore facilities.• Lead for employee volunteering grants program in Australia and New Zealand.

Provide strategic communications and community relations advice and support to facility managers at Esso and Mobil’s major operating sites in Victoria and South Australia.Deliverables:• Development of an integrated approach to managing communications, media relations, community investment and government relations programs for local communities where the company operates.• Identification of community consultation/stakeholder engagement opportunities and valuable as an interface between the community and the business.• Provision of regular community liaison meetings, stakeholder briefings, site tours, communications tools including articles, bulletins, newsletter and website.• Management of local community investment program to not-for-profit organisations across South Australia and leveraging contributions for engagement/media opportunities.

Provide high-level strategic communications advice and support for the newly formed Australian affiliate of ExxonMobil Australia Group of companies at a pivotal time in the company history when Exxon Corporation and Mobil Oil Corporation merged in the United States to form ExxonMobil.Deliverables:• Responsible for communications including role as editor of Mobil’s employee magazine and joint editor of monthly magazine for employees in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands for the newly merged company.• Development of ‘External Relations’ strategies.• Oversight of new company logo and brand management.• Management of company website and communications project specialist on introduction of GST and Y2K.• Qualitative and quantitative community research programs.• Management of media monitoring requirements and service contract for Australia and New Zealand.
