At 16 not knowing what I wanted to do, I knew I wanted to further my education, so I decided to attend college and gain a diploma in Business Management. My passion for horses lead me to Ireland for approximately 8 months working on a hunting yard but at 20, I knew there was no real career in horses, so I moved back and started temping in different offices -Randy Smith, Oiltools, RBG, Baker Hughes and Oceaneering. I gained a good insight into the different companies in Aberdeen and started growing my network not only in Aberdeen but internationally as well. 2006, I moved to Aker Kvaerner as a Logistics Coordinator. Covering all aspects of logistics. An ex-colleague called me about a role in his current company Sonsub Saipem, and said they were looking for a Logistics coordinator / 3rd Party recruiter. I jumped at the chance and that is where my recruitment journey began, where if found I loved the buzz of chasing down that perfect candidate and filling that role. HPR was my first full-time recruitment role on the ROV side and was taken on to grow the business. I enjoyed this role immensely and took up every opportunity that came my way. I learned so much from Iain Petrie (ex-owner of HPRUK) who I always thought of as a mentor. After 8 years at HPRUK, a lot of ups, down, from the financial downturn to the oil boom to the big downturn, I was really part of the furniture and had taken my role to its fullest potential the sheer amount of travel had started to take its toll on me (now married 2010 and 3 children Hadyn born 2011, Imogen born 2013 and Madison born 2014) I decided to look for something closer to home. I moved to Genesis Personnel in 2016 as the Marine and Offshore Personnel Manager and knew within 2 weeks I had made a massive mistake in moving, I gave it 2 years before admitting defeat. 2018 saw me step out of the Oil and Gas bubble and into a full-time Sales/ Account Management role in Wings Travel. Again using my large network, I made full use of my connections and built up a large portfolio of clients for the Aberdeen branch. Unfortunately, Covid had other plans for me and was made redundant in April 2020. I quickly picked up a temporary part-time role with IT hotdesk where I was tasked with building a pipeline of clients who were looking for IT support.Having known ETPM from being in the recruitment industry I was delighted to hear from Jay Smith in September 2020, who invited me to interview for the role of Business Development Manager.November 2022 I bought Aberdeen Business Network from Andrew Smith.
