Leighton Johnson is the Assistant Vice President for Employer Connections at Ivy Tech Community College, serving over 170k learners across the State of Indiana and representing the largest, accredited community college in the country. In his role, Leighton supports 60+ Employer Consultants & Program Managers across 19 Ivy Tech campuses to build and scale non-credit Skills Training delivery, industry engagement, training program development and much more. Additionally, he supports labor market strategy alignment for campuses to ensure that program designs align with high-demand, high-wage industry sectors both regionally and across the state.Prior to his work with Ivy Tech, Leighton led several industry innovation and technology adoption state and regional initiatives at organizations such as Conexus Indiana and the South Bend Elkhart Regional Partnership. Most notably, while serving as Program Manager for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation's flagship Manufacturing Readiness Grants Program, Leighton directly facilitated 215 matching industry grant awards to the tune of $24.6M, which unlocked $234.4M in total tech-enabled capital equipment investments across the state. Leighton began his career in workforce development as a Program Manager at the often nationally recognized education and workforce nonprofit, Jobs for the Future.
