 Highway 407 East, Design-Build-Finance-Operate• Planning, estimating, design development, life-cycle optimization and constructability analyses on a proposal for the circa $1 billion highway expansion under Infrastructure Ontario’s Alternative Financing and Procurement model Sirte-Ajdabiya Highway, Libya• Planning, estimating and constructability reviews for the successful $400 million highway bid submission

 Muskeg Stripping - Albian Sands Mine, Shell Oil, Fort McMurray Alberta• Superintendent of the $75 million mine site works• Managed earthworks, including environmental planning, permitting and protection, for the removal of several million cubic meters of overburden material. Much of this material consisted of various layers of muskeg which required sorting into five separate piles for reclamation of the site• Executed intensive dewatering procedures to address water table

 Vale-Inco Processing Plant, Long Harbor, Newfoundland• Superintendent of the $50 million earthworks and site development for a future nickel processing plant• Managed the excavation of approximately 4,000,000 m3 of materials• Responsible for the execution of the construction works including: rough grade of pipeline corridor for preliminary access; construction to final grade of main access road; camp access, spur and other inter-site roads; development of waste, borrow and quarry areas; rough grade of main plant site; and supply and installation of over 15 km of potable water, storm sewer, and fire water lines

 Highway Interchange, Suncor Energy, Fort McMurray, Alberta• Superintendent of the $54 million infrastructure upgrade to the Suncore Energy plant access road. The project was financed and overseen by Suncor Energy, but ownership and the long term maintenance was retained by Alberta Transpiration• Design-Build project for the delivery of an underpass and ramps to connect Highway 63 to the Suncor Voyageur Upgrader project and the existing Suncor Plant. Construction activities included: highway lighting (including high-mast); construction of heavy haul roads and service and access roads; ramps; two-span steel girder underpass; MSE retaining wall; earthworks; granulars; drainage structures; and asphalt• Supervised the installation of Atcon manufactured steel girders and railings. Also coordinated the self performed granular and asphalt manufacturing for the project

 Brunway Trans Canada Highway, New Brunswick Department of Transportation, New Brunswick• Superintendent on the $100 million earthworks project, responsible for grading, drainage, environmental controls, and the production/placement of aggregates in connection to the construction of main lanes, side roads and property access roads• Excavated more than 8,000,000 m³ of rock and common materials for the construction of the 40 km divided highway• Crushed 3,000,000 tonnes and placed 4,000,000 tonnes of aggregate• Placed over 800 m of concrete box culverts for watercourses• Placed in excess of 5,000 m of concrete pipe• Installed several multi-plate arches for watercourse crossings, wildlife passages, and recreational purposes• Conducted all works in accordance with ISO 9001 quality management standards and ISO 14001 environmental management standards

 Nanisivik Mines Tailing Pond Reclamation, Breakwater Resources, Nanisivik, Nunavut• Superintendent of the $5 million reclamation project located on Baffin Island, several hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. Equipment, supplies and materials were supplied by sea• Managed the supply and placement of cover material to cap tailings pond for site reclamation in conjunction with mine closure• Supervision of drilling and rock blasting, as well as direction of transport logistics (via heavy rock trucks) and placement of over 1,000,000 m3 of shale

 Coleson Cove Station Expansion, NB Power, Saint John, New Brunswick • Superintendent of the $7 million mass excavation of rock and site works for the expansion of a 100 MW electrical generating station. Works were managed under extreme weather conditions (located on the Bay of Fundy from December to February) on a 24 hour rotation. The project involved an extensive quality management program, including QA/QC testing, blast monitoring, compaction testing and concrete testing• Coordinated with several other contractors in order to meet the project’s compressed time frame• Planned, scheduled and directed the drilling and blasting of 50,000 m3 of rock adjacent to an operating facility. Also managed the excavation of 100,000 m3 of common material; placement of 80,000 m3 of granular material; and the placement of 160,000 tonnes of aggregate materials to construct foundation excavation, roads, parking lots, lay down areas and shoreline protection• Managed the decommissioning and demolition of a 7 storey fly ash silo building, a waste oil containment structure and other infrastructure. Equipment included hydraulic shears (excavator mounted), cranes and torches• Managed the installation of 1,500 m of watermain, 500 m of storm sewer and other associated infrastructure

 Restigouche Open Pit Mine, Breakwater Resources, New Brunswick• Superintendent of the $27 million open-pit mine development which will reach its 400 foot depth on a traditional spiral descent design• Managed drilling, blasting and classification of 300,000 tonnes of waste and ore per month• Supervised processed ore for milling and delivery to mine site, following separation (by acidic groups or ore), loading, hauling, crushing and stockpiling of acidic or non-acidic waste

 Fredericton to Moncton Highway, MRDC, New Brunswick• Superintendent of the $100 million construction (including earthworks) project for the 72 km four lane divided highway. The project was a Public Private Partnership in which MRDC was the builder and operator of the highway• Directed over 100 pieces of equipment including excavators up to 7.5 yards and loaders up to a 12 yard capacity• Managed the movement of circa 12,000,000 m3 of rock and common excavation covering over 50 km of the new highway• Imported and placed more than 12,000,000 tonnes of borrow and crushed material• Excavated and placed over 18,000 m of buried pipe ranging from 3 to 8 feet in diameter• Excavated and placed over 700 m of concrete box culverts at up to 70,000 pounds per lift• Installed multiplate arches for watercourse crossings, wildlife access and recreational purposes

 Various Grading Projects, New Brunswick Department of Transportation• Superintendent on numerous grading contracts valued at $50 million, which covered over 107 km of road throughout New Brunswick. Planned, managed and monitored earthworks, including:• Hauled, placed and compacted over 2,500,000 m3 of common excavation• Drilled, blasted, excavated, hauled, placed and compacted over 1,430,000 m3of solid rock• Drilled, blasted, hauled, placed and compacted 2,500,000 tonnes of crushing and screening• Hauled and placed over 3,300,000 tonnes of imported materials Belledune Generating Station, NB Power, New Brunswick • Foreman on multiple projects valued at $38 million, including powerhouse excavation; construction of freshwater storage dam; construction of main CW pump-house; live coal storage dome; main stack foundations; installation of CW piping (1,215 m of 2.4 m diameter pipe weighing up to 43 tonnes per section); installation of boiler-house cable anchors (103 units x 18 m deep bundled cables, stressed at 4880 kN); underground diversion tunnel (2.4 m diameter through solid rock, with dywidag anchor system). Total volumes for these works are as follows:• 908,000 m3 common excavation and placing• 598,000 m3 solid rock (drill, blast, excavate and place)• 1,012,000 tonnes imported fill supply and place• 41,100 m3 concrete formed and poured• 2,691,000 kg reinforcing steel supply and place• 10,300 m buried piping supply and install• 95,000 tonnes of armour stone (quarry, haul and place)• 4,700 m of rock or bundled cable anchors
