Since 2013 I was the head of Fieldfisher's internationally acclaimed trade mark and brand protection team and Co-Head the wider IP Team. I worked from the London and Dublin offices of Fieldfisher until 31 March 2024. I have recently relocated to New Zealand.I qualified as a lawyer in New Zealand (1997), England & Wales (2006) and in Ireland (2017). I graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand with the degrees Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws. I work across multiple industry sectors including energy and natural resources; financial institutions; hotels and leisure; retail; life sciences and healthcare; and technology, media and telecommunications.I have over 25 years domestic and international experience advising clients in relation to their intellectual property and commercial requirements. This includes worldwide trade mark and design clearance, filing and prosecution; contentious registry proceedings including bringing and defending trade mark opposition, invalidity and revocation actions throughout the world; trade mark licensing, exploitation and commercialisation; settlement, co-existence agreements and dispute resolution; managing IP litigation internationally.My practice is international and I have worked for clients on their intellectual property matters in the UK, European Union, North America, the Middle East, the Far East and Asia Pacific.I am an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and have served terms on the The Trademark Reporter, INTA Bulletin and the Parallel Imports committees. I am a current member of the Material Differences Sub-Committee of the Parallel Imports committee. In the legal directories, I have been recommended in the Legal 500 and I am described in a recent edition of the Legal 500 as 'able to understand business needs and come back with effective solutions'. I am a listed expert in The International Who's Who of Trademarks Lawyers. I am listed in IP Stars and other Directories. In March 2019 my team won Trade Mark Prosecution (Law Firms - UK) award at the Managing IP EMEA Awards in London.I have spoken widely and commented and published articles in Intellectual Property Magazine, World Trademark Review, Managing Intellectual Property, World Intellectual Property Review.
