Elson S. Floyd COM is a new medical school in the US, having received LCME accreditation in October of 2016. The admissions dean role oversees the process of selecting and admitting from the charter class on. The charter class will matriculate in August 2017!

Provided leadership for and managed all phases of the admissions process; screened applications, interviewed qualified applicants, and served as a voting Admissions Committee member for a five campus college of medicine. Advised applicants on issues pertaining to the application, reapplication, interview, and admissions process. Collaborated with marketing to reorganize admissions website and update when necessary. Conducted research on admissions data, comparing against national data, and use it to inform admissions practices.

Worked alongside the Associate Dean of Admissions in providing leadership and directing the admissions process for the College of Medicine including recruiting, advising, interviewing, and selecting future medical students. Developed a comprehensive plan to achieve diversity (broadly construed) college-wide. Ensured LCME compliance for diversity within my tenure. In 2013, based on my recommendation, this role was split into two distinct Assistant Dean roles.

Recruited to the Temple campus upon expansion of the Texas A&M College of Medicine. Temple was expanding to begin hosting independent interview days and I was in charge of developing the process. Recruitment, advising, screening, and interviewing candidates was also part of the role.

Provided mentoring and leadership in the MCAT preparation of pre-medical JAMP students across Texas.
