A physicist with a Master’s degree in Management, working in finance? Yes, I know it sounds a bit funny. But this is where life has taken me and I’m happy to be here!I ended up studying physics thanks to my attraction to number-crunching. For some reason numbers have always been closer to my heart than letters, even though I’ve enjoyed reading all my life. Understanding the world and the universal laws of physics was just a bonus, to be honest. I like learning new things and I guess that was one of the reasons why I started studying towards another Master’s degree after the first. I was intrigued by the world of business and picked Management and Organizations as my major. To balance the anthropocentric nature of my major, I minored in Business law and Information systems science. Especially the latter one has turned out to be useful as I have used several different ERP and reporting systems in my work.The best part of my job are the people (and well, okey, also the number-crunching). I have the pleasure of partnering with business and working closely with other stakeholder groups. Being in warm terms with all of them is a matter of value and respect to me. I believe interpersonal skills are in the core of success in work life as well as in private life. It’s not about being an introvert or an extrovert but it’s about knowing how to listen and keeping your mind open to see and accept alternative perspectives.
