About Leilani Darwin

I specialise in mental health and suicide prevention for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and work across Australia. Currently a keynote speaker sharing knowledge on engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, effective evaluation and engagement frameworks.I am on a very personal journey that stems from the loss of my mum to suicide at 10 years of age. I have extensive experience working across Government and the NGO sector in Project Management.I am a Nationally Acredited Mediator.I am an appointed member of the QLD Suicide Prevention Taskforce appointed by the Minister of Health to address Hospital and Primary health treatment for Suicidal people. I am involved in many consultations in the mental health, lived experience and suicide prevention sector across Australia and will contribute to help where I can. 2016, I was the winner of the Excellence in Suicide Prevention for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander category in the Suicide Prevention Australia awards. I have contributed to the development of the new guidelines for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander MHFA fact sheets for the treatment of Suicidal adolescents and adults. etc etc etc
