My one-line motivation is, "A curious mind is better than a brilliant mind".I am a native of a geographical location where visceral leishmaniasis is endemic, and I am endeavouring to identify fundamental biology stakeholders with molecular biology tools in Leishmania for novel therapeutics aimed at elimination and control, which will assist in creating health equality in the face of this Neglected Tropical Disease.

I am using the reverse genetics approach, CRISPR-Cas9 gene edition, and quantitative PCR to validate our screened candidate proteins experimentally. -

In the lab of Prof Yvon Sterkers at the CHU de Montpellier, we developed a proof-of-concept and generated knock-out populations for one of the computationally found proteins effectively. We validated the apoptotic induction in Leishmania using the TUNEL assay. In addition, we optimize qRT-PCR to create an expression profile for our targeted genes.
